We are a group of group of patients, patient advocacy organizations, clinicians, researchers, and professional organizations coming together for the purpose of advancing the use of Active Surveillance for the management of favorable-risk prostate cancer
Developing Provocative Questions (DPQ)-PCASRI was a 2-day virtual conference held on Dec. 13 and Dec. 16, 2021 as a joint effort of numerous partners of PCASRI, with funding support from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). It was designed as a consensus-building initiative across multiple stakeholder groups (patients, clinicians, and academic researchers) to bring the communities together and discuss - in a structured way - challenges associated with the clinical use of active surveillance (AS) in management of favorable-risk forms of prostate cancer, and to identify a prioritized list of unanswered questions in the so-called PICOT (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Time) format. The core objectives are to identify well-formatted questions amenable to well-structured research projects AND to bring together interested parties to work in a collaborative manner to address those questions, while continuing to think about the longer-term needs for research into AS.

From the two-day conference, we were able to generate 8 provocative questions in the field of prostate cancer active surveillance. We sent out surveys to participants for their opinions and experience toward the conference, as well as their preference list for the 8 questions. Click here to view the survey.
